NOWSPAR Founder Matilda Mwaba Inducted in Hall of Fame

The Africa Union Sports Council Region 5 (AUSC5) Council of Ministers has ratified the decision to induct NOWSPAR Founder & Executive Director Ms Matilda Mwaba into the Sports Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is part of the regional Museum being established in Zimbabwe.

Ms Mwaba said “I am delighted to share the news of the honour of being inducted into the Africa Union Sports Council Region 5 Hall of Fame. A wonderful way to officially recognise, document, and historicise the story of my life and my work in sports. These types of initiatives are an important strategy to signal that women’s voices are valuable and that the issue of gender equity in sport is important. I congratulate my fellow inductees and thank you everyone. We still have a lot to do to make sport better for girls and women. We take a moment to celebrate this recognition by the AUSC5”.

The other inductees are: Maria Mutola (Mozambique), Kirsty Coventry (Zimbabwe), Makhennkesi Stofile (South Africa), Robert Magagula (Eswatini), Joel Lubombo (Mozambique), and Boyce Sebetela (Botswana).
