Dr Mwambwa is New NOWSPAR Executive Director

Message from Katongo Bwalya Moonga, Chair, Board of Trustees:

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Lombe Mwambwa to the position of Executive Director, NOWSPAR, beginning 1st May 2021. 

Dr Mwambwa is familiar to you already having always been connected to our work since 2007 in some capacity throughout her 17-year career in the sport sector. Her recent roles within NOWSPAR include leading our organization’s international partnerships as Special Adviser, as a Board Member, and in her current role as Acting Executive Director.

Her doctoral research at the University of Chichester, UK examines the experiences of women leaders of sport organisations within the African Union Sports Council Region 5. She supports teaching on the Master of Physical Education and Sport programme at the University of Zambia and is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the IOC Certificate Course: Safeguarding Officer in Sport.

She is a member of the Board of Football Rising, serves on the Advisory Board of the International Safeguarding Children in Sport Initiative, she is also a member of the Women’s Sport Leadership Academy and the Strategy Group of the Anita White Foundation.

Our Board believes Dr Mwambwa’s history with NOWSPAR, commitment to learning and innovation and unique mix of skills and leadership qualities position her for success in leading our organization forward. 

On behalf of the Board, I would like to congratulate Dr Mwambwa on her new role with NOWSPAR and extend our deepest gratitude for her leadership as Acting Executive Director since the passing of our founding Executive Director Ms Matilda Mwaba in January 2021.
